From heterodox to orthodox

Here's a tricky situation.

Let's say Bob has been a Christian for several years. And as far as anyone could tell, is a committed, faithful, and wonderful guy. He's even serving as a volunteer for the church.

The only problem is, he doesn't believe in the doctrine of the Trinity. Is Bob a Christian?

Let's take a quick pause. When considering theological issues, I believe the Trinity to be an essential. To deny the doctrine of the Trinity (one God, three persons, all equal in substance), in my personal view, would place them outside of historic Christianity. This is very different from a disagreement about liturgy or even a liberal interpretation of Genesis. The severity of denying the doctrine of the Trinity has incredible implications.

So the tricky part is... what do you tell Bob? Do you tell him, "Sorry Bob, over the past five years since that altar call and baptism, you thought you were a Christian, but you're not. In fact, you won't be a true Christian until you believe in the doctrine of the Trinity."

Greetings Hee Sung Shin

According to Holy Scripture,
Bob is indeed a Christian.

Its the other way round!
The so-called orthodox believers are at odds with the Bible and with the faith once delivered unto the saints.

Truly, there are many like Bob who
after the way which they call heresy, so worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:
(which nowhere teaches anything about
a so-called trinity!)

The Bible teaches that GOD,
is one Being, One Person, that is
the Father.
Jesus, the human Son of the ONE GOD,
the Son of the Father
[2 John 3]
clearly identified
the Father as the only true GOD
[John 17.3]
and the only GOD
[John 5.44]

The early church concurred:

(1 Cor 8:4) ... that there is none other God but one.
(1 Cor 8:6) But to us there is but one God, the Father, ...

Jesus never taught a trinity neither did his disciples.

The trinity is a manmade doctrine, that comes from Platonic & Hellenistic philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

To be a Christian according to our Lord & Savior, Jesus the Messiah is:

(John 17:1) These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said,
Father, ...
(John 17:3) And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Therefore, Hee Sung Shin,
On the subject of the Trinity,
I recommend this video:
The Human Jesus

Take a couple of hours to watch it; and prayerfully it will aid you to reconsider "The Trinity"

Yours In Messiah

What does Bob believe?

but do you mean that Bob doesn't believe in the Trinity in that God-Jesus-HS are all one and the same or that he has a hard time understanding what that means? bc if it's the latter, i think that applies to a lot of believers. we know it to be true but the actual mechanics (breakdown of a 3-in-1) of it are not something we can easily hold in our minds.
